Ivy Waters grew from one homeschooling family’s need for something simple but surprisingly hard to find: the freedom to teach entirely their own way, with a private, trustworthy record that could make real-life learning understandable to someone outside the family.

Why we exist
Learning was everywhere. The record wasn’t.
Ivy Waters International was built by a homeschooling family living abroad. As parents, we spent years watching our children learn brilliantly through real life, while a quiet worry sat underneath it: if we ever had to show all this to a high school one day, the government back home, or a visa office abroad, what would we actually hand them? A camera roll, scattered certificates, finished books, and whatever we could reconstruct from memory. We didn’t think our kids would be going to school anytime soon. But for our own peace of mind, it made sense to keep track of what they were learning properly, in a form we could confidently present if anyone ever asked.
We looked at umbrella schools, but we would still have been compiling and submitting everything at the end of the year. The records felt like records for their own sake: nothing warm, and nothing we would want to keep. The logging apps were not the answer either: some had privacy settings we could not accept, and we were not about to pour years of our children’s photos, voices, and daily lives into a platform we did not trust.
We wanted to keep teaching entirely our own way while something trustworthy did the organizing, kept our family’s data private, and turned a year of real life into a record we would be proud to keep and, with Enrollment, into clear school records we could present when someone official asked.
It did not exist. So we built it.
What Ivy Waters is
The family teaches. The record grows beside them.
Ivy Waters International brings together a Pre-K through Grade 8 records service, parent-owned evidence, and a coherent Enrollment path. Annual Enrollment includes:
- An official enrollment letter from day one for family, travel, and administrative records.
- An official transcript each year, built from your child’s real learning.
- A Showcase Portfolio of their work, projects, and own words.
- Ivy Waters International Standards, making everyday evidence understandable beyond the family.
You remain the educator and decision-maker. Ivy Waters supplies the enrollment, records, and tools. It never imposes a mandatory curriculum or a teacher who takes over.

Ivy Waters International Standards
A map you may use, not a route you must follow.
The Ivy Waters International Standards are our own Pre-K through Grade 8 framework. They describe capacities worth growing and help make real-life learning understandable in a record; they do not prescribe a curriculum, route, or pace.
When useful, Ivy Waters can suggest how a learning moment connects to the Standards. You decide whether to attach that connection, reject it, or keep the moment with no benchmark at all. Unaligned learning still belongs in your child’s journey and family evidence record.
Optional equivalence notes can help another school or education system understand an Ivy Waters standard. Those translations do not define our framework or the value of the learning.
Follow the map when it is useful to your family. Set it aside when it is not. Either way, the learning still counts.
Our educational authority
Our standards are the foundation, not a borrowed curriculum.
The Ivy Waters International Standards are our educational foundation: an original Pre-K through Grade 8 framework built around real-world evidence, personal growth, and freedom of route and pace. When a family chooses alignment, our academic claims stand on these standards. External mappings may help another system interpret the learning; they do not define its value or authority.
Ivy Waters is based in Texas, where private schools are not accredited by the state. We intentionally maintain our own academic standards without external accreditation, serve students only through Grade 8, and currently do not issue high school diplomas. Because education laws vary by location, families remain responsible for any registration, testing, evaluation, attendance, or other local requirements that apply to them.
