Introduction

This Cookies Policy explains how IVY WATERS INTERNATIONAL LLC ("Ivy," "Ivy Waters," "Ivy Waters International," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies across the Ivy Waters website, IvyTracks, the Parent Portal, and any pre-release, Labs, beta, early-access, or private-testing experience we make available. Ivy Words and Ivy Numbers are internal Labs and are not part of the current public offer.

Where a testing experience uses cookies or similar storage differently from the released Service, we describe the difference in a notice shown before you opt in.

Here is the short version:

  • We use cookies for essential service operation and security.
  • Signed-in apps may use product analytics when the relevant deployment is configured for it.
  • Public pages use Vercel Web Analytics only after you allow optional insights. It is cookie-free, and Ivy removes query strings and fragments from the measured page URL before a page view can be sent.
  • We do not sell cookie-derived data.

Cookies should help the service work, not make family life feel watched. The rest of this policy explains the necessary storage, the limited analytics that may be enabled, and the choices available to you. If the practice changes in a meaningful way, we will update the date above and provide clear notice.

1. What Cookies Are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by your browser when you visit a website. They help websites remember state between page loads and visits.

Cookies can be:

  • Session cookies (deleted when you close your browser)
  • Persistent cookies (kept for a set time or until deleted)
  • First-party cookies (set by our own domains)
  • Third-party cookies (set by external services)

2. How We Use Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies for service reliability, security, and limited marketing/measurement use cases.

2.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are required for core product behavior and cannot be switched off in our systems:

  • Authentication/session continuity (for signed-in experiences)
  • Security protections (for example, preventing abuse and maintaining request integrity)
  • Basic service state required for safe operation

Without these cookies, account login and core application features may not work correctly.

2.2 Preference/Consent Storage

We may store your cookie-consent preference so we can remember your choice and avoid repeatedly prompting you.

This storage is used only for consent state and does not include ad profiling.

2.3 Signed-In Product Analytics

When configured, IvyTracks and the Parent Portal use PostHog to measure selected product events. Automatic capture and automatic pageview capture are disabled in the current app configuration; session recording, heatmaps, dead-click, exception, performance, survey, product-tour, feature-flag, and web-experiment features are also disabled. Ivy sends named events from specific product flows. The current signed-in app configuration keeps the analytics identifier and event state in browser memory rather than durable cookies or local storage.

Those events can be associated with an adult account identifier. Learner-related flows use a yes/no learner-context flag rather than a raw learner identifier. This information is used for service improvement and reliability, not advertising. The apps are not designed to send learner notes, evidence media, transcript text, or other record contents to PostHog.

2.4 Public-Site Analytics

If you choose Allow insights, the public website loads Vercel Web Analytics. It is a cookie-free, aggregate measurement service that helps us understand which pages are useful and whether the site works well across browsers and devices. It may process the page path, referring site, browser and device details, and a broad geographic region. Ivy removes query strings and URL fragments from the measured page URL before an event can be sent, and excludes record-verification, password-reset, and email-preference routes entirely.

The same choice also allows Ivy to remember one first-touch campaign or Journal entry on this device. That record is first-party, does not follow your browsing, and is forwarded only when you deliberately continue to an Ivy account. Declining or later withdrawing clears it.

2.5 What We Do Not Use Cookies For

We do not use cookies for:

  • Selling profile data to data brokers
  • Running child-directed behavioral advertising
  • Knowingly building advertising audience segments from in-product child learning activity

3. Third-Party Cookies

Our signed-in products use infrastructure and payment providers where needed and may use PostHog for product analytics when configured. The public website uses Vercel Web Analytics only under the choice described above.

Where these providers set cookies or similar identifiers, they may support security, service operation, fraud prevention, payment integrity, and public-site analytics.

We do not sell personal data to ad brokers. We do not provide family educational data or signed-in child learning activity to advertising partners, and we do not permit child-directed ad profiling in learning experiences.

4. Children and Cookies

Ivy Waters is operated by adult guardians and stores information they choose to provide about learners. Children do not create accounts or independently operate the Services. We do not use cookies or similar technologies to build advertising profiles from child learning activity, and we do not run child-directed ad-tech tracking in learning experiences.

5. Your Choices

Depending on your location and the page you are visiting, you may see a cookie notice that lets you allow or decline optional public-site insights. You can reopen Cookie choices from the site footer and change that decision at any time. A withdrawal stops future public-site analytics and clears first-touch attribution stored by Ivy on that device. The public-site choice does not manage signed-in PostHog analytics. Before Ivy relies on consent for signed-in analytics, it must provide and verify a separate in-product choice and an equally easy way to withdraw it. Browser settings provide additional control but do not replace an Ivy control where one is legally required.

You can also manage cookies through your browser settings by:

  • Deleting existing cookies
  • Blocking specific sites
  • Blocking third-party cookies
  • Blocking all cookies (note: this may break essential app functionality)
